- Intel vs Intel: the new Arc G3 Extreme (OneXPlayer 3) against last gen's Core Ultra 7 (MSI Claw 8 AI+).
- Both matched at 30 W, the max for the Claw. The G3 Extreme can go to 35 or 40 W and pull even further ahead.
- In my opinion it shows the tremendous leap Intel has made from last generation.
- Across most games I've tried, the G3 Extreme beats my Z1 Extreme and last-gen Intel by about 10–20 FPS.
What's up, guys! This is a pretty fun comparison: the new Intel Arc G3 Extreme, by way of the OneXPlayer 3, up against Intel's last-generation handheld chip, the Core Ultra 7, in the MSI Claw 8 AI+. Since both are Intel, I matched up the TDP and every setting, so we can see what each chip is doing in Gears of War: E-Day.
Test setup (both devices)
- 30 W TDP (the max for the MSI Claw)
- 1200p
- Intel XeSS Performance
- Low and Medium presets
- No frame gen, except for one part of the benchmark
So, this gets us close enough and consistent enough to show what each chip does at the same 30 W, resolution and upscaling. The benchmarks come first in the video, then side-by-side gameplay, all labeled, with the MSI Claw on the left and the OneXPlayer 3 on the right.
Results
Here's what I got. All runs are 1200p with XeSS Performance at 30W and auto VRAM.
| Scene | Preset | MSI Claw 8 AI+ (Arc 140V) | OneXPlayer 3 (Arc G3 Extreme) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Act 1, Back in the Fight (street) | Low | 41 FPS | 60 FPS |
| Fire scene | Low | 40 FPS | 60 FPS |
| Fire scene | Medium | 29 FPS | 49 FPS |

That's roughly a 20 FPS jump every time, and the G3 Extreme ran cooler too, around 62 to 66°C versus 79 to 81°C on the Claw. In my opinion, Intel's done a really great job with this chip. And it's not just this game. In most of the games I've been trying, the G3 Extreme consistently outperforms my Z1 Extreme and last-gen Intel by anywhere from 10 to 20 FPS.
Also keep in mind that 30 W is the Claw's ceiling, not the G3 Extreme's. You can run the OneXPlayer 3 at 35 or 40 W and it outperforms the Claw even more.
Verdict
So, at matched settings and matched power, the new G3 Extreme is the clear step up over last-gen Intel in Gears of War: E-Day. If you're on a last-gen Claw, that's the kind of jump you're looking at, and there's still more headroom above 30 W on the new chip.
But anyways, guys, let me know in the comments down below which of these you're gaming on, and which games you want to see next in a G3 Extreme vs last-gen comparison. As always, thanks a lot for coming to check this out. I really appreciate it, and I'll see you in the next one.
